Fans of Swedish House Mafia know the holy trinity of house — Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello — as not only superstar DJ/producers in their own right, but also as tastemakers in the music business, launching impressive young talent into a completely different stratosphere.
In Miami, at their Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand party in March, Swedish House Mafia debuted the epic “Nillionaire” by rising electronic dance music star Alesso (signed to Ingrosso’s label, Refune), who has since gone on to have tremendous Beatport.com chart success with his “Pressure” remix (originally by Nadia Ali, Alex Kenji and Starkillers) and his remix of SHM’s latest single, “Save the World.”
Now, they introduce you to Zedd, a.k.a. Anton Zaslavski. Hailing from Kaiserslautern, Germany, the 21-year-old Zedd comes from a family of musicians (his father was in several bands and played classical guitar and his mother taught him how to play piano) and began producing electronic dance music in 2009, though he also plays in a metal band called Dioramic. He began receiving EDM acclaim after winning two Beatport.com remix competitions and has had dance charting success with his singles “Autonomy,” “The Legend of Zelda” and “Anthem.” Zedd has also collabed on mixes for a few folks you may know: Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Diddy and dubstep star Skrillex.
The three Swedes are unleashing Zedd’s new mix of their hit single “Save the World,” an electro house banger that has been making it into superstar DJ sets and gathering nods from some of the biggest acts in dance music. “Respect to mister @zedd for his killer Save the world tonight remix, thats the one you’ve been waiting for!” Afrojack tweeted recently.
MTV News has the exclusive premiere: Stream “Save the World” (Zedd Remix) in the player above. The song will be made available for purchase in the next two weeks.

There’s no hiding the success of the “robots in disguise” franchise: “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” enjoyed the highest-grossing Fourth of July film debut ever over the weekend. Summer sequel mania was in full swing over the Independence Day holiday as the latest “Transformers” movie took in an estimated $97.5 million. “Transformers” beat the 2011 opening-weekend record previously set by “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” which just crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide.
Director Michael Bay’s third installment in the “Transformers” series took in more than $180 million during its six-day opening, which started with Tuesday night previews. While it beat the Independence Day record held by “Spider-Man 2″ thanks to inflation and 3-D screenings, it fell short of the superhero sequel in terms of overall attendance and far behind the last “Transformers” opening as well. Only 38 percent of major critics found the film favorable, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Last weekend’s big sequel, “Cars 2,” suffered from the largest second-week drop in Pixar’s history. The talking-car-centered animated kid flick fell 60 percent to #2 with an estimated $26.2 million, with an 11-day total of $123 million. Cameron Diaz’s “Bad Teacher” was #3 on the box-office chart with $14.5 million for an 11-day total of $59.9 million.
Critics have not been kind to “Larry Crowne,” which opened at #4 with just $13.1 million. ” ‘Larry Crowne’ has Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts and a good premise and a colorful supporting cast,” wrote Roger Ebert. “But what it doesn’t have is a reason for existing.”
The weekend’s other new romantic comedy, Selena Gomez’s “Monte Carlo,” failed to even crack the top five with its $7.4 million debut.
“Super 8″ was #5 with $7.8 million. J.J. Abrams’ homage to co-producer Steven Spielberg’s thrill-filled coming-of-age stories has earned more than $108 million in four weeks of release.

Today is the Fourth of July — happy birthday, America! — and that means it’s time to celebrate the most patriotic ladies in music! Whether they’re singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in front of millions or wearing their love of their country on their sleeve (sometimes very literally), these ladies are living the American dream.
And this isn’t some arbitrary ranking, either! To determine who the most patriotic divas are, we got positively scientific (just go with it). We assessed these ladies’ patriotism based on four areas. Each was awarded one point if she, A) appeared at a patriotic event or in a pro-America public service announcement, B) was photographed wearing American flag-related clothing, C) sang the national anthem at a public event or D) released an America-themed song. The lady with the most points won.
So who are the top America-lovin’ ladies in music today? Check ‘em out!
Britney Spears
Spears famously appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 2000 wearing an American-flag belly shirt with a play on Uncle Sam’s famous saying running beside her: “Britney Wants You!” We decided to be pretty liberal with what constitutes a patriotic event, so we are going to give Spears a combined single point for appearing at two very American (but not specifically about America) events: the NASCAR Winston Cup Pepsi 400 in 2001 and the Super Bowl XXXV halftime show.
Alas, Spears has not released a song specifically about America, despite being “Miss American Dream since I was 17.” She also, curiously enough, hasn’t performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” in her pop-star era. (There is a six-second YouTube clip of her performing the national anthem at age 8, but she wasn’t a sanctioned diva back then.)

Miley Cyrus
We thought of Cyrus for this list specifically because of her good-times jam “Party in the U.S.A.,” which is not only about America but weirdly became a bona fide anthem that reflected the mood in the country following the death of Osama Bin Laden.
But just when we thought we could award the young pop star only one point, we stumbled upon her PSA for the American Red Cross, asking for support in the wake of the earthquake that ravaged northern Japan earlier this year. Way to lend your celebrity to both a very American organization and an allied country in dire need, Miley!

Lady Gaga
America is all about being yourself. We are a melting pot, after all. And Lady Gaga is all about being herself, and she wants you to be yourself too — there’s nothing more American than that!
We’d love to see her put those killer pipes to use and sing the national anthem, but she hasn’t done it just yet. She does earn points, however, in the three other areas of our survey. Gaga is, interestingly, perhaps the pop star most involved in the democratic process. Last year she spoke at the National Equality March and at rallies in Maine to encourage the repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. She even appeared in a PSA for the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network asking her fans to contact their senators to voice their displeasure with the policy.
On the sartorial front, she sported an American-flag bikini in her “Telephone” video. (Wouldn’t you have been more surprised if we had told you that Lady Gaga had never worn the American flag?) She also has a song on her most recent album, Born This Way, called “Americano.”

Christina Aguilera
Aguilera is known for her awesome singing voice, so it’s no surprise that she has performed the national anthem at several major events, including this year’s Super Bowl, where she mangled the lyrics something fierce in an uncommon bout of nervousness. (That’s what it was, right? Seriously, she’s done “The Star-Spangled Banner” about a thousand times!)
The “Beautiful” singer also filmed PSAs for “Rock the Vote” in 2008 to encourage young people to get out and do their duty as U.S. citizens. In the clips, she sings “America the Beautiful” a cappella while holding her newborn son Max, who is wrapped in an American flag (double points!). Yes, Aguilera herself isn’t draped in the flag, but we thought we’d give her the point anyway because of her USO-themed video for “Candyman.”

Katy Perry
Perry impresses in three of our categories. Late last year, she performed at the “USO Presents: VH1 Divas Salute the Troops” concert at Miramar, California, where she also wore an American-flag bustier. That is not the only instance of flag-waving clothing Perry has sported, however. During an appearance on British TV show James Corden’s “World Cup Live!,” Perry wore a latex flag dress.
Given her frequent pro-America attire, we’re going to give Perry the benefit of the doubt and count her pro-tolerance anthem “Firework” as an America-themed song, because in America, all men and women are created equal, and that’s basically what “Firework” is all about. Also, it’s the Fourth of July, people. Fireworks!

Beyoncé
Was it even really a contest? Beyoncé sang (and nailed) “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the 2004 Super Bowl in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
What’s more American than singing the national anthem at America’s most-watched sporting event? Well, perhaps being personally asked by the president to perform at his inauguration. The girl (who runs the world) was asked to sing “At Last” while Barack and Michelle Obama had their first dance as president and first lady of the United States.
Beyoncé recently released a cover of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” to benefit the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. (Seriously, could she be more awesome?) Having worn the American flag as a dress to get down opposite Lady Gaga in the video for “Telephone,” Queen B is the only diva who fulfills all our categories.
When it comes to Beyoncé and America, we could go on and on — she recently repurposed one of her hits for Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” anti-obesity campaign, and in 2001, she performed with Destiny’s Child at the United We Stand: What More Can I Give? benefit concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. — wearing American-flag pants, we might add. But it’s the Fourth of July, and we think a real patriot like B would prefer you get out and celebrate America’s 235th birthday instead of celebrating her dedication to the US of A!

‘We all felt 12 again, sliding down the side of this building, shooting, screaming,’ Tyrese Gibson tells MTV News.

For those who’ve seen “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” there is so much going on in the film that one could spend the next 12 months breaking down all the dirty details. We’ve already tackled the nods to “Star Trek” and the “Transformers”-specific Easter eggs, so today we turn our attention to one of the film’s most impressive action sequences: the part when evil Decepticon Shockwave sends his massive, spinning, snakelike destroyer after our protagonists, who become trapped in the upper stories of a tall building. The Transformer proceeds to cut the building in half, leaving our heroes no option but to jump out of the windows and slide down the outside of the building to safety.
MTV News had the scene’s stars, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson, explain how they managed to pull off that sequence.
“The building comes up on what I can only describe as a crane,” Whiteley explained of the rig used to support and move the specific set piece. “It tilts to about a 40-degree angle. It’s built to look like the outside of a skyscraper,” she said. “Shia, myself, Tyrese, the Marines, we all set at the top, Mike [director Michael Bay] would scream ‘Action!’ and then we would slide down this thing,” she recalled. “And then flower pots, chairs, paper and fake glass, tennis balls, every office supply you could possibly think of would get thrown down after us.”
Despite the gravity of that particular scene, it turns out that the boys thought of the tilting skyscraper set piece more like a ride at a county fair.
“This thing had to be 150 to 200 feet in the air. It was like a huge slide,” Gibson said. “We all felt 12 again, sliding down the side of this building, shooting, screaming, doing everything we had to do in those scenes.
“It was scary stuff,” he added with a smile. “It was scary with the idea that we are about to be eaten, eaten alive.”
“We shot that for three weeks or so,” LaBeouf said. “You’re basically pulling yourself on rope to get to the top of the thing. It’s like a big slide, you know those slides they have at fairs where you get the little brown bag? Brown bag slides, sort of like that.”
Huntington-Whiteley added that in the midst of all the fun had while sliding, she learned very quickly to pay attention to her landing and get out of the way when she reached the bottom of the set piece. “I’d always hit the bottom first. It took one time to realize if I didn’t get out of the way really quick, I was going to get flattened by a 300-pound man coming quite quickly after me!”

‘It’s just like Shady and Aftermath,’ MC says of being signed to G.O.O.D. Music, Konvict and Def Jam.

If you want to get technical, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music deal with Def Jam puts Atlanta rapper CyHi the Prynce back where he’s been throughout his career. And that makes him all the more confident that big-label status won’t change his music.
“Def Jam is like family, for real,” he said on “RapFix Live” this week. His history with the label began back when CyHi was part of a Georgia rap group called Hoodlum that was signed to Def Jam through Jazzy Pha’s Sho’Nuff imprint. After the group split a couple of years later and CyHi embarked on a solo career, his relationship with a pair of execs kept him in the family.
“When I went solo, I came back and revisited the situation, due to my relationship with L.A. Reid and my relationship with Bu Thiam,” CyHi told MTV News. At the time, Reid was Island Def Jam’s chairman and Thiam, Akon’s younger brother, was (and still is) an A&R at the label. CyHi was signed to Akon’s Konvict Music imprint in 2009. And then last year, Kanye West caught wind of his talents and recruited him to join his Grammy Family.
“I’ve been at Def Jam all my life; it’s just, you know, the big heads put it all together,” CyHi explained of the new relationship with Kanye’s group and the label. “By G.O.O.D. Music actually getting their label deal there, and I’m already there, it just solidifies me more, [increasing] the possibility of an album coming soon.”
As for how Konvict and G.O.O.D. Music interact on his behalf, and split any due proceeds, CyHi offered an analogy for the joint venture: “It’s just like Shady and Aftermath. It’s just like G-Unit and Aftermath. It’s the same thing. I’m not a stingy guy. My thing ain’t to get rich. … Their check is a joint venture. That’s between Konvict and G.O.O.D. Music. They going to split that, then I just do me.”
The “Royal Flush” rapper was also adamant that both Konvict and G.O.O.D. Music only have his best interest at heart and that the plan is to augment his talent, not switch up his style.
“When you self-made and you do it yourself, they all come to complement what you have done,” CyHi said. “I got with ‘Ye, I been like this. They was like, ‘I don’t want to change nothing about you; I just want to enhance it.’ Same with [Konvict], ‘We just want to enhance.’ It’s a great relationship with everybody. My team is what really makes me who I am. Teamwork makes dreams work.”

As is to be expected with Michael Bay movies, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is jam-packed with a lot more than his patented brand of eye-popping action sequences. The movie is two hours and thirty-seven minutes, after all, so even with all the Autobot vs. Decepticon fighting action, there is plenty of room for an actual plot and, more importantly, a ton of fun Easter eggs for the most perceptive fans out there.
In addition to all the “Star Trek” nods, Bay and company have cleverly inserted five “Transformers”-specific Easter eggs in the film. Thanks to the eagle eye of Splash Page editor Rick Marshall, along with his extensive “Transformers” knowledge, MTV News is proud to provide you with a few key things to look out for while watching “Dark of the Moon.”
Not-So-New Girl Carly
Played by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the character of Carly is new to Bay’s “Transformers” but has a meaty role as one of the humans in the “Transformers” cartoons. Carly is the wife of Spike Witwicky in the original animated series, the inspiration for Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky.
The Ark of the Moon
The opening of “Dark of the Moon” is all about a mysterious ship that crash lands on the moon. Optimus Prime calls that ship “the Ark,” which is the name of the spaceship that first brought Optimus and the rest of the Transformers to Earth in the original cartoon.
Spock’s Speaking-Part Past
We mentioned the Nimoy connection in our “Trek” Easter eggs article, but his work is such a nerdy thrill, it gets another mention here. In “Dark of the Moon,” Nimoy is the voice of Sentinel Prime, which marks the second time he has lent his voice to a robot in the series. In the 1986 classic “Transformers: The Animated Movie,” Nimoy voiced Galvatron, Megatron’s equally mischievous successor.
Bridges in Space
We won’t go into details about how a space bridge may or may not be mentioned and/or used in “Dark of the Moon,” but throughout Transformers history onscreen and in comics, the space bridge allowed for travel between Earth and Cybertron.
Old New Faces
“Dark of the Moon” introduces us to a slew of new Autobots and Decepticons, although the die-hard “Transformers” fans out there will recognize the following from the cartoons. New-to-the-movie Autobots include: Wheeljack (has a strong Albert Einstein-like resemblance), Mirage (a red sports car) and Optimus Prime’s fancy silver trailer. Decepticon debuts include: fan-favorite master of destruction Shockwave and bird-like Lazerbeak, who transforms into a variety of objects, save for the excellent cassette-tape shape of his cartoon counterpart.

Last week, Chicago rapper Common revealed that he is taking his rhyme talents to Warner Bros. Records. Surprisingly, the “Universal Mind Control” rapper tells MTV News that he had been a free agent since December 2009, when he departed from his longtime Universal Music recording home.
The rapper and actor, currently shooting an AMC television series called “Hell on Wheels” that will premiere in the fall, released his last album, Universal Mind Control, in December 2008. The album was met with mixed reviews and didn’t reach the same gold sales of his previous two projects, the critically acclaimed Be and Finding Forever.
But a certain record executive didn’t lose faith in the veteran rap lyricist. “Point blank, I got a call from [Warner CEO] Lyor Cohen,” Common told MTV News. “He was like, ‘Look, man, I know who you are. I always told you, you was one of my favorite MCs, and I really meant that.’
“I felt the sincerity in what he was saying. He didn’t tell me, ‘We’re going to do this, do that.’ He was more like, ‘I know how we can do your record, and I want to work this. I want this to be on my roster.’ ”
The Warner music chairman knows a thing or two about talent. Through the years, “the check writer” has had a hand in the careers of star MCs such as Run-DMC, LL Cool J and Jay-Z. Before getting the call from Cohen, Common had been toying with the idea of going the indie-label route to release his music.
“I felt like, man, it would be good because it’s so much … we do have a lot going on,” Common explained. “I am doing these acting projects. I do have my foundation. I do have a daughter and a life, too. So it’s all these things I want to take care of, I felt like I didn’t want to have an independent label that I felt like you gotta be there for everything, every decision. I’d rather have a team that’s already in place that’s really confident in what I’m doing.”
Although G.O.O.D. Music recently inked a worldwide label agreement with Island Def Jam Music Group, Common is still affiliated with Kanye West’s label. “It’s still G.O.O.D. Music all day and night,” he said.
Common’s ninth album, The Dreamer, The Believer, is due out in November.

As is to be expected with Michael Bay movies, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is jam-packed with a lot more than his patented brand of eye-popping action sequences. The movie is two hours and thirty-seven minutes, after all, so even with all the Autobot vs. Decepticon fighting action, there is plenty of room for an actual plot and, more importantly, a ton of fun Easter eggs for the most perceptive fans out there.
In addition to all the “Star Trek” nods, Bay and company have cleverly inserted five “Transformers”-specific Easter eggs in the film. Thanks to the eagle eye of Splash Page editor Rick Marshall, along with his extensive “Transformers” knowledge, MTV News is proud to provide you with a few key things to look out for while watching “Dark of the Moon.”
Not-So-New Girl Carly
Played by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the character of Carly is new to Bay’s “Transformers” but has a meaty role as one of the humans in the “Transformers” cartoons. Carly is the wife of Spike Witwicky in the original animated series, the inspiration for Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky.
The Ark of the Moon
The opening of “Dark of the Moon” is all about a mysterious ship that crash lands on the moon. Optimus Prime calls that ship “the Ark,” which is the name of the spaceship that first brought Optimus and the rest of the Transformers to Earth in the original cartoon.
Spock’s Speaking-Part Past
We mentioned the Nimoy connection in our “Trek” Easter eggs article, but his work is such a nerdy thrill, it gets another mention here. In “Dark of the Moon,” Nimoy is the voice of Sentinel Prime, which marks the second time he has lent his voice to a robot in the series. In the 1986 classic “Transformers: The Animated Movie,” Nimoy voiced Galvatron, Megatron’s equally mischievous successor.
Bridges in Space
We won’t go into details about how a space bridge may or may not be mentioned and/or used in “Dark of the Moon,” but throughout Transformers history onscreen and in comics, the space bridge allowed for travel between Earth and Cybertron.
Old New Faces
“Dark of the Moon” introduces us to a slew of new Autobots and Decepticons, although the die-hard “Transformers” fans out there will recognize the following from the cartoons. New-to-the-movie Autobots include: Wheeljack (has a strong Albert Einstein-like resemblance), Mirage (a red sports car) and Optimus Prime’s fancy silver trailer. Decepticon debuts include: fan-favorite master of destruction Shockwave and bird-like Lazerbeak, who transforms into a variety of objects, save for the excellent cassette-tape shape of his cartoon counterpart.

‘I miss VJs,’ stars tell MTV News.

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts’ new movie, “Larry Crowne,” is, in a nutshell, about a middle-aged man who, after constantly being looked over for managerial promotions at work due to his lack of college degree, enrolls himself in his local community college, where he finds himself being taught by and falling in love with the lovely Mercedes Tainot (Roberts).
When MTV News caught up with Hanks and Roberts at the press day for the film, we attempted to discuss Hanks’ return to the director’s chair after a 15-year hiatus (the last film he helmed was 1996′s “That Thing You Do!”), but first the two superstars took a moment to talk about us.
“I miss VJs,” Roberts lamented of MTV’s onetime team of on-camera personalities.
“I miss VJs, too,” Hanks agreed. “I miss, you know, ‘The Rock Hour!’ ” he added, likely meaning “120 Minutes,” hosted by Matt Pinfield, which has been resurrected over at MTV2.
“What’s on MTV now?” Roberts asked.
“Pregnant teenagers,” quipped Hanks.
Hanks and Roberts then briefly discussed MTV’s current slate of programs, citing “The Real World,” “Jersey Shore” and “16 and Pregnant,” but admitted only to hearing stories about them, not to having watched any of those shows themselves.
Once we were able to bring the focus to the topic at hand, we asked Hanks about his return to the director’s chair, and what inspired him to take on so many roles for this film — he directed, acted in, co-wrote and produced “Crowne.”
“Somewhere I think in 2009 a switch just goes off in my head that goes, ‘I really want to direct this,’ ” he recalled, equating his passion for the project to a fever he had to have cooked out of him. “It takes you out of the marketplace for a long time, which is fine. I have a lot of things going on, but it ends up being like this personal letter that you’re writing to your mom where you want it to be right, you want it to be authentic, you want it to actually reflect who you are and where you are at this point, and so that’s why you end up directing a movie and being in it.”
For Roberts, signing on to the film was mostly about working with her good friend. She and Hanks worked together once before in “Charlie Wilson’s War,” which, according to Roberts, cemented their friendship for life.
“I knew I had a friend for the rest of my life,” she said, recalling one specific day on the “Wilson’s War” set that involved Hanks, Roberts and some joke with a little box. “He [makes] me want to live a longer life,” she gushed.
“What a great answer!” Hanks said with a big smile.
“It’s true, I love Tom. It’s kind of retarded for us sitting here trying to be professionals because we’re friends,” she said. “I love his wife, I love his kids.”
“This is what we’d be doing if we were sitting around or having lunch,” Hanks added, speaking to the pair’s easy rapport. “We’ll laugh for three hours together.”

They’ve been enjoying plenty of togetherness now that it’s the NHL offseason, and Hilary Duff was out and about with Mike Comrie in Los Angeles, California on Saturday afternoon (July 2).
The happy couple were hand-in-hand as they grabbed a bite to eat for lunch at Mo’s restaurant before continuing along with their Fourth of July holiday weekend plans.
Hilary and Mike’s outing comes shortly after Miss Duff’s big sister Haylie’s beau, Nick Zano, spoke with OK! magazine about the foursome’s double dates.
Zano told, “The girls are really into cooking so most of the time it?s going from house to house. The hottest restaurant in our neighbourhood is like whoever?s kitchen! Its great.?
Happy to be able to spend time with a pro hockey player, Nick added, “Mike taught me so much about hockey. I was never a hockey guy. He opened my eyes to hockey and I became a fan. I went to several Pittsburgh games.”

Beyonce surprises fans at Target in Harlem on June 30th

While traipsing the globe to promote 4, Beyoncé stopped by New York City’s Harlem Target on Thursday to say hello to some of her young fans.
As the store celebrated its one-year anniversary, kids from the local Boys and Girls Club danced their hearts out onstage to Beyoncé’s new track “Countdown.” In the middle of the song, B took the stage and gave them a big group hug before letting them continue their routine.
“I’d like to thank the Boys and Girls Club for coming out. I hope y’all had fun learning the choreography to ‘Countdown’ today,” she told the crowd, in footage posted on Rap-up.com. “I hope you guys enjoy the new album 4.”
Beyoncé had a little bit of a commercial reason to show up at the Target store: The deluxe version of 4, which is set to debut at #1 on the Billboard albums chart, is available exclusively at the retail giant. But since the disc’s release on Tuesday, fans have complained that some Targets didn’t stock enough copies, and the promised exclusive video can’t be accessed yet.
“Honestly, day one sales were fantastic for us, especially on the deluxe edition,” John Butcher, Target’s vice president of entertainment, told The Hollywood Reporter, assuring fans that Sony was delivering more CDs soon.
As for the promised exclusive director’s cut of B’s “Run the World (Girls)” video, Butcher explained that the clip wasn’t quite ready for public consumption, but it should be ready shortly. “Beyoncé’s team is still finalizing aspects of the content, and they just didn’t want [it] to be released until it was perfect,” he said. “We could have forced something through that wasn’t right — it was our prerogative to do so — but we didn’t want to do it. We certainly don’t want to disappoint our guests. We believe they’d rather have the right content and wait a couple days than get something that wasn’t going to be very special.”

Having flown into the second stop on their North American tour earlier in the day, Prince William and Kate Middleton got down to business after touching flown at Montreal Airport on Saturday (July 2).
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge immediately headed over to the Sainte-Justine University Hospital – where they were greeted by both fans and protestors, some of which held up signs with nasty messages such as “Royal Parasites! Go Home!”.
Explaining the anti-monarchy sentiments, one of the protestors told local press, ?We think it?s a useless institution that has no place today. We are capable of governing ourselves without people who have the title of king by divine right. The idea that God made them king is a philosophy of the Middle Ages.?
As for their hospital visit, William and Kate toured the treatment center, with Miss Middleton lovingly sitting down to spend time with patients in the children’s cancer ward.
Once finished up at Sainte-Justine, the royal newlyweds were escorted to board the MCS Montreal to meet a handful of naval officers before finally bringing an end to what was another long day.
